Beach pavilion De Waterreus is a household name in Scheveningen. For decades, the famous beach bar has been located near the lighthouse. Since 2016, you can even go here 365 days a year: as the first permanent beach restaurant in Scheveningen, De Waterreus is the ideal place from summer to winter to enjoy a delicious bite to eat and a drink with a view of the North Sea. It is not for nothing that De Waterreus was named Best Beach Pavilion in the Netherlands in 2016!
The winter-resistant location of De Waterreus was completely redesigned in 2016. The beach pavilion combines the cool and sleek look of a trendy restaurant with maritime and old Scheveningen elements that give it a homely atmosphere. You are sheltered from the wind on the large terrace, but you do have a wide view of the sea. Ideal for sunny autumn days!
Menu
De Waterreus likes to work with beautiful products that really belong to the beach. The extensive menu includes dishes such as North Sea sole in butter and a Scheveningen stew. The cocktail menu invites you to have an extra drink on the sunny terrace in the summer. And in the winter months you can warm up here after a lovely walk on the beach with chocolate milk and a piece of freshly made cake.
Breakfast buffet every Sunday
On Sundays, De Waterreus always serves an unlimited breakfast buffet for young and old. With various types of luxury rolls, eggs prepared to your liking and many types of toppings. Enjoy a relaxing Sunday morning with a sea view!
At weekends and during beautiful summer days, it is recommended to make a reservation for the restaurant.

Workshops
You can go to De Waterreus in Scheveningen for various workshops which are suitable for all kinds of occasions, such as company outings, children's parties or just as a fun activity with your friends. There is something for everyone. For example, you can choose to be active during one of the active workshops, including surfing lessons, power kiting and scooter tours. There are special activities for children, such as farmer's golf on the beach. Or do you want something completely different: a belly dancing workshop? Our location in the Netherlands and how to get there
The Water Giant is on the Scheveningen beach near the lighthouse all year round. The beach bar is easy to reach by car, public transport and bicycle. By car, it is best to take the route towards Scheveningen Haven from the highway. You can park in the harbour, or in the Noorderlijk Havenhoofd car park, where The Hague Beach Stadium is located during the summer months. De Waterreus is also easily accessible by public transport. Various trams run from The Hague Central Station and Hollands Spoor towards Scheveningen, such as lines 1, 16 and 11 that stop at the boulevard. From the terminus of tram 11 you can walk to De Waterreus within five minutes
